The Uusimaa Regional Council will open a European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) funding call on 9 February 2026 for the regional councils under its coordination. The call includes the Regional Councils of Häme, Kymenlaakso, Päijät-Häme, Uusimaa, and Southwest Finland. The call will remain open until 23 March 2026.
From the Varsinais-Suomi Regional Council’s allocation authority, projects will be funded in this call with a maximum of approximately €1.6 million within the framework of appropriations included in the state budget.
The call announcement will be published in the EURA 2021 system no later than the opening day of the call.
Funding for Innovation, Digitalization, and Green Transition
The call targets the following priority areas and specific objectives of the Renewing and Competent Finland 2021–2027 Programme:
Priority Area 1: Innovative Finland
- Specific Objective 1.1: Improving research and innovation capacities and the adoption of advanced technologies
- Specific Objective 1.2: Leveraging the benefits of digitalization for citizens, businesses, and public administration
Priority Area 2: Carbon-Neutral Finland
- Specific Objective 2.1: Promoting energy efficiency measures and reducing greenhouse gas emissions
- Specific Objective 2.2: Promoting adaptation to climate change, risk prevention, and disaster preparedness and resilience
- Specific Objective 2.3: Promoting the transition to a circular economy
Focus on Smart Specialization in Varsinais-Suomi
The call’s priorities are guided by the Regional Programme 2026–2029 and the associated Smart Specialization Strategy for Varsinais-Suomi, whose priority areas are:
- Maritime Solutions
- Food Innovations and Food Security
- Advanced Health Solutions
- Smart Solutions
- Economic Sustainability Transition
The call also takes into account the Varsinais-Suomi Strategy 2040+.
Information Sessions on Teams
The Uusimaa Regional Council will organize a series of three information sessions when the call opens. The sessions will be held as Teams webinars and do not require advance registration.
