Planning based on local knowledge helps reconcile different needs and build solutions that regional stakeholders can commit to. In this way, the goal of a healthy and thriving sea is supported by practical measures and the people and organisations needed to implement them.<\/p>\n

Regions are more than implementers<\/h2>\n

As the EU advances the Ocean Act, the discussion on the role of regions will continue. From Southwest Finland\u2019s perspective, regions cannot be seen merely as implementers of European decisions. They are key partners that connect European objectives with local realities.<\/p>\n

As preparations for the Ocean Act move forward, this connection may prove decisive: how can a shared European ambition be translated into practical solutions in places where the sea and the coast are an integral part of everyday life, communities and economic activity?<\/p>\n
