In addition, a declaration must be made regarding significant assets and other interests that may be relevant to the performance of elected and official duties. Declarations of interests are regulated by the Local Government Act. The Regional Council must maintain a register of interests on a public network. The declaration of interests is made to the audit committee, which monitors compliance with the declaration obligation and brings the declarations to the attention of the regional council. The audit committee may, if necessary, request that the person required to declare submit a new declaration or supplement an existing declaration.
